Week 11 PLE Post

Pedagogical knowledge, technological knowledge, and content knowledge all compose what we call T-PACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge). PK is the basic knowledge of teaching strategies. Technological knowledge is knowledge of how to use technology and awareness of the various available technologies. Content knowledge is the knowledge of the actual material that will be taught to the students.

An example of teaching that I have using technology is the use of Google Earth. While teaching world history, the use of Google Earth can be very helpful to provide a more realistic teaching atmosphere and a better picture for the students. If the students are learning about the Great Wall of China, then we can use Google Earth to take them right to the Great Wall and navigate around.

There are many technologies available. Some of the technologies can be used in various ways. For example, Google Earth does not have to be used simply for teaching history. It can be used for geography as well. I also loved the LoggerPro technology with the thermometers. This is a great way for students to learn about temperatures and use graphs.
