What are some of the basic things I can do in the Google Earth program?
How might I use Google Earth in my classroom?
Google Earth. This would be a great program to use in the classrooms. It is such an amazing program. You can take the students to their front yard, Disneyland, an obscure little village in the middle of Africa, or the Bahamas. They can go anywhere they wish. With Google Earth, if you type in a specific address, it will show you a picture of the very street and you can navigate all around the area. You can see a town from far away or up close. You can start at the picture of planet Earth and keep zooming in until you reach someone's front door step. This can give students a view of the world around them. Many have no idea what is out there. This is really great for students that have never gotten the chance to really leave their hometown. Teachers can use it to teach about ecosystems, an introduction to learning about the planets, biomes, water features, climate, cultures, part of a history unit, etc.
